Stray Thoughts

It has been a few years of national and personal turmoil since I put in my 'Stray Thoughts' to pen and paper.
In these years of great disturbances which have kept me busy with unfruitful pursuits of illusory targets, the one thing that has kept me sane and happy has been the daily meditation that I learnt at the feet of my Gurudev, the periods of solitary and  intensive meditations and conclaves with great scholars at the Gurudham Ashram at the  foot of the Mandar Mountain, but above all the magnificent, bliss giving  and ever flowing GURU KRIPA which has allowed me to take sessions on the spiritual explanations of the Bhagwat Gita tuesdays in Dhanbad, and fridays in Kolkata, which make me sing of the Lord and dance in joy.

In these blissful sessions certain very pertinent questions have popped up, amongst them:-
1. What is the meaning of Parasher's one night stand with Satyawati the step mother of Bhishm?
2. How do you explain the birth of Pandu, Dhritrashtra and Vidur, fathered by Maharishi Ved Vyas?
3. What is the meaning of Draupadi's swayamvar, and marriage to 5 Pandavs?
4. What is the explanation for the visit of Bheem to Naglok?
5. Rukmini Haran signifies what?
and so on, too numerous to be listed here.
The central theme in almost all of these questions is how to reconcile these seemingly impossible events with science/ logic/ rationality. Let me assure the answers are very satisfying to my listeners.

Bheem's poisoning and visit to Naglok

The entire SANATAN literature  and lore is very much allegorical, to prevent the unqualified and the worldly, from misinterpreting them.
Even after going through my blog you will have some questions and grey areas, as it takes a deep understanding of KRIYAYOG and its principals to fully comprehend all the connotations of the purport.

Bheem is Pawan putra and is the element vayu.
Vayu can move two ways up ( when it is stilled, to bring moksh) and down (when it is chanchal to condemn you to damnation).

Bheem is so fond of food that it is used by his enemies Duryodhan (indefeasible durbuddhi) and his chief aid Shakuni (jealousy) to trap him. {[के शत्रवः ? निज इन्द्रियाणि ]who are your most deadly enemies? Your own Indriyas !}

He is fed Laddus laced with poison (vishay rus(विषय रस ) - attraction to material pleasures) Then they push him into the river (pingla (विष) naadi (तमो गुण प्रवर्तक)  which takes one down to paataal -muladhar chakra) but due to Bhagwat kripa he experiences the Kulkundalini (nagshakti in Naglok- the triangular abode in the Muladhar.

The Kulkundali (residing at the base of the spine- as a 3 and half coiled serpent - hence the Naglok) blesses him with extreme power at the prompting of the Lord, which he ultimately uses to do the Lord's bidding by destroying the evil Kauravs and their cohorts.
You will recall that all 100 Kauravs were killed by Bheem, in the 18 day long epic battle of Mahabharat.

यत भाँडे  तत ब्रम्हांडे  -- whatever exisits in the entire creation can be found in your own body say the scriptures

The evil therefore that lurks in your body can be obliterated only by incessant practice of praanayam.

Now an uninformed and casual reading or viewing of the epic Mahabharat will hide the main theme and mostly will even invite some ridicule, as some incongruous, seemingly ludicrous and almost ridiculous seeming impossible events will be misunderstood and criticism will result. But do sit back and reflect: has the epic and many such scriptures been created by mad men? or is it that they are pointing out to something between the lines?

But one will wonder at the beauty of the BRILLIANT epics and their theme, once the ability to decipher the hidden meaning is developed.

I shall try to pick up the thread of these spiritual events and try to explain the real theme behind them every so often. You are welcome to write/mail to me your questions if any.

GOD BLESS

Jai Guru!!
