Dear friends,

Have you ever wondered how sometimes whatever you desire fructifies very easily, and at other times no matter how hard and strong your desire, things simply go astray??

Have you also noticed during the course of your life that you wanted to be 'X' but ended up being 'Y' or that you landed up doing the very things that you detested.

Why does it happen? Why does life meander like a river, ceaselessly and take you to shores that you had no desire to visit and away from those that you were so desperate to go to?

Often a bullock cart in the village is accompanied on its journey by the owner's dog. The cartman drives and guides the cart; the dog simply barks every now and then. But the dog harbours the misconception that his bark is the reason the bullocks are pulling the cart. The cartman simply indulges and tolerates his pet- the dog.

The Lord in the Gita says:

Ishwaram Sarv Bhootanam, Hriddeshey Arjun Tishtathi!
Bhramyani sarv Bhootani Yantrarudhani Maiy ya!!

O Arjun I stay in the hearts of all creatures!
I drive them all much  like a mechanical device(a car for example) through my maya (Nature).

The Lord must be a really busy person indeed, driving so many vehicles at the same time. No He is clever he has put in auto pilots which are self programming in all these countless vehicles.

He has said as much again in the Gita:

Prakriti Kriyamanani Gune Karmani Sarwashah!
Ahankarah Vimoodhatma Karta Ahamiti Manyate!!

My maya (nature) starts all activities in creation. It is only the egoistic and the foolish who think they are doing things.

It is like the foolish dog discounting the cartman and thinking of itself as the cause of the cart's movement.

Your karm and the accumulated (over many births) prarabdh+ the last desire locked into your heart at the last breath of your previous life are together the two reasons which decide the entire course of the present life. (SELF PROGRAMMING)

These are locked into the planetary position at the time of your birth which then automatically take you through the journey of your present life (AUTO PILOT)

Where then is the independence or the freedom of the creature? It is only free to move towards or away from the Lord his maker. All else is fixed up and programmed in the autopilot.

But this movement alone is the software that can over write the self programming and give you the manual control over the auto pilot.
It is the most powerful and desirable thing that a creature can do. Put the control in the hands of the Lord after taking it away from the self destructive autopilot.
Pandit Ram Prasad Sen the bhakt kavi who even Robert Clive visited in a disguise and who has composed a huge collection of bhajans says:

Sokoli tomari ichcha, Ichchamoyi Ma Tara tumi!
Tomar kormo tumi koro Ma ,Lokey bole kori aami!!
Aami yontro tumi yontri, aami rotho tumi rothi, jemney chalao temni choli!!
Sokoli tomar ichcha!!

Whatever happens is as per your desire. You do your work and yet people claim they did it. I am an instrument you are the mechanic. I am a chariot and you are the charioteer, you drive and steer and I go as per your command.

I do not know if I have made any sense to you, but it has certainly crystalised my thoughts and belief.

 The significance of the Rathyatra and its spiritual analogy :      A huge celebration all over the world  is the "Rathyatra" रथयात्रा festival. Hundreds of thousands of people participate  and enjoy. The essence of such Sanatan Dharm (हिन्दू धर्म) is mostly lost even to the revellers /participants.                                                                   मुक्ति  जो जीते जी मुक्त रहा है सच कहूँ तो मरने के बाद भी वही मुक्त हो सकता है। जो यहाँ नहीं मुक्त रहा वो वहाँ कैसे मुक्त रहेगा? मुक्त रहने का मतलब सब छोड़-छाड़ कर भाग जाना नहीं होता। ये मुक्ति का स्वरूप नहीं है।  आप सबसे पहले ये विचार करिए आप अपनी चेतना में क्रोध से कितने मुक्त हैं? आप काम से कितना मुक्त हैं? आप लोभ से कितना मुक्त हैं? ये सब जरूरी है पर ये आपके कन्ट्रोल में है या आप इनके कंट्रोल में है?  जो अभी मुक्त है वो सदैव मुक्त है।  मुक्त व्यक्ति का स्वभाव क्या है? he never react he always respond. हम अपने जीवन में सदैव रिएक्ट करते रहते हैं respond नहीं करते। कोई पूछ ले- रो क्यों रहा है? वो रुला गया। हँस क्यों रहा है? वो हँसा गया। सो क्यों रहा है? वो सुला गया। जग क्यों रहा है? वो जगा गया। हमारा जीवन ऐसा है हम जिससे मिलते हैं उसके सामने अपना रिमोट रख देते हैं तू बटन दबा। वो दबाता है प्रशंसा का बटन तो यहाँ लग जाता है प्रसन्नता का चैनल। वो दबाता है निंदा का बटन तो यहाँ तुम भी आग बबूला हो जाते हो।  भाई तुम्हारा टीवी
